GlobeXplorer Works
With U.S. EPA to Provide Situational Analysis Capability
 EPA
Developing Nationwide Analysis System for Multi-Purpose Capability
One of the most tangible manifestations of EPA’s
information management vision is the virtual and physical Emergency
Operations Center. This project links all of the EPA’s Information
Plan goals, providing a clear target for the use, acquisition, interpretation,
access, and exchange of data, as well as the information technology
and governance structure needed to establish this capability.
The Emergency Operations Center provides each employee with desktop
access to environmental, scientific, financial, and policy information
in a single, easy-to-access Web portal that can be tailored for
a specific purpose (e.g., writing regulations, assessing risk, issuing
permits, emergency response).
The Emergency Operations Center is a state-of-the-art analysis,
communication, and meeting space where Agency analysts and senior
decision-makers can anticipate or assess a particular issue or situation,
communicate with governmental partners and the public, and craft
an appropriate response. In providing these things, the Center is
transforming how the Agency and its partners protect the environment
and homeland security through data and technology.
GlobeXplorer is providing technology and content to the Emergency
Operations Center, allowing the EPA to develop advanced planning
and analysis systems while maintaining their budget. GlobeXplorer’s
image service provides a detailed level of nationwide information
that was previously unavailable to the EPA.
